Positive Journal – Day 2

The five things that I am grateful for today are…

 1. The Skipping Rope- I don’t know if you know which one I’m talking about, it is the one from the rope from Galileo, anyway. I am so happy that we can use it whenever we want to because it is really fun and it is also good exercise even if you are just making the rope turn because you are using your arms. It is really fun watching other people skip then joining in and someone messing it up, especially when you just simply laugh off the mistakes you or someone else has made.

 2. Car- Seriously today I was quite tired, I don’t even know why, but I was so glad knowing that my Mum was there waiting for me in a warm car where all I had to do was sit down. Tomorrow it’s going to be a fun day and I’m sure I am going to get tired again, that is why I am so glad knowing that I won’t have to walk even more to get home.

 3.  Tea- I love tea, I love love love love it so much. It is the best thing to have when you wake up, when you come home or even when you go to sleep, because it relaxes me so much. Today I was feeling cold, and I was so happy when I got home, turned the kettle on and made myself a nice warm cup of tea, YUM. I know some people dislike tea… I KNOW SHOCK HORROR RIGHT, anyway but I enjoy drinking it and here’s a little secret which everyone knows, I drink it like 3-5 times a day (Not black tea though; I only have that in the morning, with milk obviously).

 4. Galileo- Funny right, but the thing is that I am actually enjoying this week so far and I think I will for the rest of the week. I can’t wait for the other things we will be doing, because I didn’t really enjoy the other weeks as much as this current one. I have a feeling Galileo will be much better and I am really excited for all the things we will be doing. It is probably the best thing I will ever do at school, besides learning, obviously.

 5. Friends and Family- I know I am mentioning this again but they are the things that make me smile throughout school and when I go home. Even after school I am still happy because of my friends. I mean it I bet you 55% of all people don’t respect their friends and family as much as they should. When I see a friend I just feel warm inside, and when I see a family member I again feel warm inside.

Positive Journal – Day 1

The five things that I am grateful for today are…

1. Family- I love my family and am so happy when I am around and with them. They always make me happy and make me feel safe and secure wherever I am. Sometimes there can be a rough moment in life, but they will always be there to help and support you, and that is vital to me.

2. Friends- I love my friends deeply, Its true that sometimes friends can be better than family since you have chosen them, but I strongly believe that family is very important in life. Being around my friends make me feel happy and bring a smile to my face. Good friends will help you with whatever you need, and I love that in a friend.

3.School- It’s a bit weird I know, but I enjoy school and love it. I believe that school is very important in life, but not to important. I am so glad to be privileged to go to school and meet new friends. The reason I love school is because it is a great way to meet friends and learn new things, and I know that in many places around the world people are not as privileged as me.

4.Food and Water- I was super hungry and thirsty today, and when I got home I had my food and I had a long drink of water. This may seem like such a little thing, but in other places of the world people are hungry and thirsty and they die. I have seen it and its very sad. Seeing something like that makes you think twice when you are eating something or even having a simple drink.

5. Home Essentiels (Bed, computer, hot water, warm home, those things) – I am lucky to be able to have these things. We have many things which sometimes I don’t even think are that important or I just don’t appreciate it as often as I should. Looking bad I see how lucky I am to have a simple cup of tea in the morning or even having a warm jacket while I was walking to school.

Using Evidence – Homework Task

To me, Visual, written and oral is a great way to present something and I believe it worked quite well On History week when it was combined. I believe it is the best way for someone to really be engaged and learn well. If I had to choose one though it would have to be written, though to be fair none of these are always very reliable but for most of the time written history is the most.

This is my evidence as to why I believe this is the case:

As we found out when we went on trail on Friday, at times it was quite hard to hear what the lady was saying when we were outside. Even the teachers admitted that we should pay close attention because it was hard to hear, what words were coming out of her mouth. Also at times I felt as if she forgot what she wanted to say, but that could have just been me. In many cases history can be passed down from generations by word and can be messed up and can miss vital moments in the story. That is why I believe something being written is better than being told.

While I went researching over the web, I found out lots of written pieces of Aboriginal History that taught me more things then what we learnt on Friday. It was much easier to understand and hear, since it was all on paper and if I could not understand something I could easily reread it and get it. When something is written it cannot be forgotten since it is all there and can never be changed. I believe it is a great way to learn and that is why it is used everywhere in schools.

In class we had about a session where we looked at a few pictures and tried to determine what they were representing. There was a lot of guessing going on and there was almost never a definite answer. Pictures sometimes can be a great way to learn, but sometimes they can be completely incorrect and that can and will lead to many problems. Pictures can be incorrect and or made up. Pictures can be painted in 2012 when it is showing how life was in 2000. They can never be 100 present correct. Pictures are also sometimes difficult to understand without a caption, which is normally the case and, what is a caption…

A written text.

Week Two Reflection

This week we had History week,

It was mostly a boring week for me and I did not enjoy the things we did. The only thing I did enjoy was the Coat Of Arms work, and that was because it was an art related thing where we could design our own thing. I’m not an art person though so don’t get me wrong.

There weren’t many surprises for me in this week of Galileo, but maybe it was because of the ruined week and the fact that we didn’t do many things. Maybe this coming week we will have more chances to do things and it will be more interesting and surprises.

I think I still know how I learn and that I haven’t really discovered any news ways I like to learn. I still know what I prefer and I like learning that way.

This week I believe that the disturbed week was bad for my learning because I believe that in those disturbed days I could have learned new things and would have had more information and interesting things to write about in this reflection, I know that it was bad for many reasons and I’m sure all the students could have learned something new if the days weren’t disturbed.

Personally I did not enjoy Friday, I felt as if it was not that educational for me and that I could have done something else to understand what we learnt on Friday. That is just my opinion of coarse and I am sure someone else thought that Friday was very educational for them.

I still think this week was an ok week and could have been much much better if it was not disturbed on wednesday and thursday. So lets just hope for the best, Goodbye.

Why I believe tea is good to have in life.

Tea boosts exercise endurance. Scientists have found that the antioxidants in green tea extract increases the ability of the body to burn fat as fuel, which helps for improved muscle endurance.

Drinking tea could help reduce the risk of heart attack.

Tea could also help protect against certain types of diseases. The antioxidants in tea could help protect against a lot of cancers, including breast, colon, colorectal, skin, lung, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, pancreas, liver, ovarian, prostate and oral cancers. But don’t rely solely on tea to keep a healthy body — tea is not a miracle cure, obviously. A few studies have shown that this is true.

Tea helps fight free radicals. Tea is high in oxygen radical absorbance capacity, which means that it helps destroy free radicals; they damage DNA in the body. While our bodies are designed to fight free radicals on their own, they’re not 100 percent effective.

Tea is hydrating to the body even though it has caffeine in it.

Drinking tea is linked with a lower risk of disease. When concidered with other factors like smoking, physical activity, age and body mass index, regular tea drinking was associated with a lowered risk of Parkinson’s disease in both men and women.

Tea could provide protection from ultraviolet rays. We know it’s important to limit exposure to UV rays, and we all know what it’s like to feel the burn, but green tea could act as a back-up sunscreen.

Tea can keep the waist under control. In one study, people who regularly consumed hot tea had lower waist circumference and lower BMI than people who don’t. Scientists speculate that regular tea drinking lowers the risk of metabolic syndrome, which increases the risk of diabetes, artery disease and stroke.

Regular tea drinking might also counteract some of the negative effects of smoking and might even lessen the risk of lung cancer, still don’t smoke.

Tea could be helpful to people with Type 2 diabetes. Studies suggest that compounds in green tea could help diabetic people process sugars better.

Tea can help the body recover from radiation. One study found that tea helped protect against cellular degeneration upon exposure to radiation, then another one found that tea can help skin bounce back after it was exposed to radiation.

Green tea has been found to improve bone mineral density and strength.

Tea might be an effective way to help prevent and treat neurological diseases, especially degenerative diseases. While many thing influence brain health, polyphenols in green tea may help maintain the parts of the brain that regulate learning and memory.

Learing Goals Have fun reading 724 words!

SKILLS: Orientation, Problem Solving and Cooking

KNOWLEDGE:Public Transport, Melbourne Streets and Justice and Law

PERSONAL QUALITIES:Patience, Responsibility and Organisation

IMPORTANT GOAL: Cooking- From Skills

Orientatian: Orientation is a incredibly important skill to have in life.Orientation is used to find and navigate your way around the city. It is going to prove very important when we start to go on trails, as we might be given directions and or other information to do with orientation.

Problem Solving: Problem Solving will be very useful in everyday life and also for galileo trails. As we found out on Friday, you need to be good at problem solving to figure out puzzles, quizzes, poems and clues.  Problem Solving can be a great skill to have  as you never know when you will need it.

Public Transport: Public transport is important in life, for many people it is used everyday. I don’t use it everyday and therefore am sometimes worried about where I am going, most of the time I am fine though. Still Public Transport is an important thing to know about and should not be giggled upon. Do you know how many people have got lost from not knowing where they were on Public Transport.

Melbourne Streets: It is of the upmost importance that you know your way around the city. That is why I believe knowing your streets is so important. If you did not know where you were going you would get lost immediately, even if the city is a grid, but if you know the city well with its streets you would have no problem navigating your way around and even giving directions to someone.

Justice and Law: Justice and Law in everyday life is so important because you must know what is right and what is wrong. You must know the law so that you don’t break it without knowing what you have done. It is also important to know the Justice system so you know that if you decide to kill someone you know the path you will face.

Patience: Patience is very important to have because well, you live in a big city and sometimes there are traffic jams or you wait one extra hour to get to see your doctor, it happens and it is important. I feel that if there was no patience in the world, the world would turn into an angry place where people are yelling at each other and are always getting upset at each other, but with patience people know that you must wait to get what you desire.

Responsibility: Being responsible is good to have, that way you know what is safe and what is dangerous. I know that being responsible is important in life for many reasons. One of those reasons are that, if you are responsible you will do your homework and get work done on time. I believe that being responsible is very important in life.

Organisation: Being organized is so very important to me. I am a bit of a freak when it comes to being organized and neat but, I try to keep it down so that it does not annoy anyone. Being organized is a great way to make sure your homework is done on time and that you have all the equipment required to do a specific job.

Cooking: I believe cooking is very important in life. I am already quite a good cook but I want to be better. I want to be better at cooking because if you cant cook, you cant eat, If you cant eat, you start eating out and eating junk food, while if you can cook you can eat healthy meals made by yourself.

To be a better cook I will need to read more cook books and learn new ways of cooking. I will need to have better equipment to use when I am cooking so that I don’t use something incorrectly.

Once I can cook quite well and make a wonderful delicious and healthy meal I will know that I have achieved my goal.

There will be a lot of things that will be in my way of achieving this goal such as Wrong equipment, Improper use of equipment and even just being bad.

The End

Week One Reflection

Galileo so far has been slightly fun. The most fun I have had would have probably been on Wednesday, when we went on trial for the very first time. I remember how funny everything was especially when Ilaria got us lost because she read the map upside down, that was a very funny moment, because the face she made when she found out she had it upside down was just soooooo funny.

So far I feel like Galileo has been slightly different from what I thought It was going to be like, but that’s not a bad thing. I know that week one was just the orientation week, and I’m guessing as we continue Galileo it will increase in my expectations of it.

What are your initial thoughts about your team project topic and group?

I am quite happy that I got The Law because that was one of the many topics that I quite liked and chose. I feel that our group has the potential that is required to work together and do a good job.

Has your sense of the group changed as a result of completing the trail together?

Yes, at first I was a bit worried about one of the group members, but then at the trail on Friday I found out that we worked quite well together and there was really no problem with communication. I am sure we will all do a great job on this whole thing.

What did you notice in terms of: leadership, cooperation, time management and humour?

I noticed that when it came to the crunch we all turned out to be good at the task at hand, there was a perfect amount of time management and we cooperated very well. The leadership was spread out throughout the whole group and we managed everything correctly, we all agreed on something and then performed it.

What have you already learnt about yourself [working in a new group]?

I have learnt that I can be able to lead when it is required, also that I am able to settle arguments and bring the team together, even though that was not really an issue.
